Verrucaes are an infection of the skin, caused by the same virus that produces warts (Human Papilloma Virus). They can be very painful if they occur on a weight bearing part of the foot, or you may be unaware that you have one. They may occur as individual lesions, or may spread and form clusters.
There are a range of treatments, none of which are guaranteed to cure the verruca, but can work in some cases. Possible treatments will depend on various factors including age, condition of the skin, size and number of verrucae. The first step is a correct diagnosis (they can be confused with corns) and then an informed decision can be made.
